Why are you charging for Roll20 -- I thought this was all free!

Roll20 is a free service provided by a small team of developers. We rely on support from community members (like you!) to help us pay the costs of keeping the site up and running, and to give us time to develop new features and fix bugs. However, we firmly believe that purchasing a subscription should be totally optional, and we'll endeavor to always keep the base elements of Roll20 as free to use.

How can I support Roll20? What does a subscription get me?

If you'd like to support Roll20, you can do so by signing up for a Subscription, choosing one of the options available. Each subscription includes great perks which give you more direct access to the Dev Team, as well as some tools useful for "power users" who manage lots of games. If you have any questions about subscribing, don't hesitate to drop us a line to team@roll20.net.

I want to upgrade my current subscription. How does that work?

The basic gist is: we'll fairly compensate you for the remaining time on your current subscription, you won't lose out on any money by upgrading part-way through your current subscription. Here's the nitty-gritty details. All upgrades are pro-rated. For example, if you upgrade from a Plus, Monthly account to a Pro, Monthly account, and it's half-way through your monthly subscription period, you would receive a credit for 50% of the cost of the Plus, Monthly subscription, which is applied toward your new Pro, Monthly subscription.

What if I change my mind later? Can I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription easily at any time from your My Account page. After your subscription is canceled, we won't charge you the next time it would normally renew (monthly or yearly). You'll still have access to all the benefits your subscription offers until the end of the current billing period. Sorry, but we are unable to provide partial refunds.

What if I forgot to cancel before the end of the current billing period? Can I get a refund?

Most likely yes! Just send the details of your situation to team@roll20.net. Please include your Roll20 email address, the date your subscription was renewed, and if applicable your Paypal email address.

What if I need to change my Credit Card information on an active subscription?

You can change and or update your credit card information easily at any time from your Change Card page.

What if I use Paypal to pay for my subscription?

You can easily cancel or upgrade your subscription via your My Account page. Paypal users can also cancel their subscription, change their method of payment on Paypal, and monitor billing history via their Preapproved Payments on Paypal.

At this time, there is not a way to change payment methods (from a credit card to PayPal) on an active subscription from your My Account page. Please email team@roll20.net for help switching from your current payment method to PayPal.

I want to give someone else a subscription as a gift...

Sounds like a great idea! You can visit their profile page directly and you'll find a "Give Gift" button. You can also visit the Gift Page if you know their Roll20 email address and you can gift them that way as well.

I accidentally gifted myself funds intended for my GM?

Happens all the time...and I mean ALL the time. Just send the details of your situation to team@roll20.net. Please include your Roll20 email address, the date you purchased the Gift, and the Roll20 email address of the intended Gift recipient.

I have a credit on my account, what's that mean?

It means that you (or someone else) gifted money toward your account. Your account credit balance will be used first before we charge your payment option to pay for your subscription fees. It can also pay for partial subscriptions. For example, if you have a $20 credit, it would fully pay for two months of a Pro subscription, then we will charge your payment option for subsequent months. Or, you can sign up for a Pro Yearly account and we'll apply $20 toward the yearly fee, and the rest will be charged to your payment option. If you already have an active subscription, we'll use the credit to pay for subsequent subscription fees the next time your subscription renews. If you don't have an active subscription, you'll need to sign up for one, and we won't charge your payment option until your credit runs out.

Ack! Something's not working right? Or any other subscription related question?!

Don't hesitate to contact us and let us know if you have any issues subscribing or have any questions about your existing subscription.
