Awfully Cheerful Engine - Character Sheet Instructions

When you play this game, you’ll be taking on the role of a Hero with a capital-H. In this book, when we say ‘Hero’ we mean a character, or persona, adopted by a player in the game. If you’ve played other games, which you probably have, ‘Hero’ just means “character’. But these are goddamn Heroes!

First things first, you should decide who your Hero is. A grizzled detective, a heroic turtle, a paranormal scientist, an emotionless robot? Your Hero is whoever you want them to be. Once you’ve decided who your Hero is, you can use the following process to ‘build’ them!

Create Your hero

  1. Choose your Role.
  2. Spend 12 points between your four Stats. Each Stat must be between 1 and 5.
  3. For each Stat, choose one Focus. There are many in the dropdowns - or think up your own
  4. The sheet with automatically work out your Defence and your Health.
  5. Choose a Trait.
  6. Oh, and don’t forget to give your character a name! Otherwise how will they make reservations at restaurants?
